Halifax Share Dealing Deploys .NET Application

18 May 2007

MBA SystemsHalifax Share Dealing Limited (HSDL), has deployed MBA’s .NET application, TransFIX. The software is used to route orders and process international trades for all four brands that HDSL supports: Halifax, Bank of Scotland and IWeb, plus a white label, third party brand.

HSDL needed a higher-level of automation to support the growth in its international share dealing operations. In its review of the market, the company found that TransFIX met all the necessary criteria. “It ticked all the boxes,” says Claudia Philips, head of development and marketing at HSDL, “Furthermore, it could be implemented in a tight time scale and at a competitive price.” Timing was an important consideration for HSDL and the system took just four months to be fully implemented.

Of particular interest to HSDL was the ability of TransFIX to translate FIX and non-FIX trading messages, without the need to change existing applications or acquire specialist FIX expertise or resources. “TransFIX is an established product,” added Claudia, “so we have been able to adopt it quickly and easily. MBA’s ability to understand our business and respond quickly to our needs has also been very helpful.”

Stephen Taylor, sales and marketing director of MBA added: “We are delighted that we were able to match HSDL’s requirement so well. MBA conceived the TransFIX application for this very type of requirement. As the securities industry moves increasingly into the FIX world, TransFIX provides broking firms with a simple and immediate solution for them to access FIX-based execution venues, without the need for investment in FIX systems or consultancy”.
